Mentoring Program for Children Aged 6-12 Surrey

KidStart is a one-to-one mentoring program that supports children in Surrey. The kids in our program could be struggling to make friends, dealing with family instability, or facing challenges in school like bullying. Mentorship from caring adults for kids dealing with these issues can have a profound impact and we are looking for volunteers like you to provide this support.

Ready to become a mentor?

What We Do

We carefully select and prepare compassionate adult volunteers to serve as one-on-one mentors for children. These mentors foster strong, supportive relationships by modelling positive behaviour and engaging their mentees in meaningful activities that build confidence and promote success. To ensure lasting impact, we request a commitment of about three hours per week for at least one year, recognizing that consistency is essential to nurturing trust and growth.

Surrey Mentorship Needs

In Surrey, our KidStart volunteer mentors are currently supporting 35 kids, with an average age of 10. As of July 2026, we have 74 young people still waiting to meet their mentor.

Meet a Volunteer Mentor

“Finding yourself as a teenager or a young adult is far from easy, to say the least. As a volunteer, I wish to provide guidance and support my mentees to ensure they find their path and are confident about who they are and where they are heading.”

Ryan is a mentor with KidStart in Surrey. He has learned that progress and development can be marginal and sometimes hard to notice until later on. So, whenever a mentee opens up and chooses to share something personal, it is a sign of not only their personal development, but also of a good relationship between the mentee and their mentor.
