Mentoring Program for Youth and Young Adults in Pitt Meadows

KidStart is a one-to-one mentoring program for teens, ages 8 -13 and young adults ages 19-23 in Pitt Meadows and other areas of Metro Vancouver.

Life can place a heavy load on teens today, especially those who have trouble forming friendships, are coping with unstable home environments, or are encountering difficulties at school. The young adults in our Pitt Meadows program are often in the process of moving toward independence after time in care, may be on a youth agreement, or are navigating tough life situations such as involvement with the justice system or the impact of family breakdown.

For both age groups, we offer one-on-one mentorship that helps young people feel seen, supported, and encouraged. With a caring adult in their corner, they’re more likely to build confidence, bounce back from setbacks, and make positive choices. If you’ve got time and a big heart, you could be that someone who makes all the difference!

Ready to become a mentor?

What We Do

We recruit, screen, and train caring adult volunteers to mentor young people on a one-to-one basis. Our mentors model positive behaviours and spend time developing supportive relationships with their mentees, encouraging them to participate in activities that allow them to experience success. Because consistency is key to developing an effective relationship with youth, we ask mentors to devote approximately three hours a week for a minimum of one year.
