Become a KidStart Volunteer Kid Coach
KidStart volunteers support young people through two of the most generous gifts citizens can givetime and friendship. KidStart opens doors by providing positive mentoring services, delivered by carefully screened and trained volunteers, to young people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. KidStart Volunteers engage kids in positive activity that supports healthy development.
Volunteers are selected based on their demonstrated ability to accept young people unconditionally, develop caring relationships with them based on mutual trust, and model pro-social attitudes and behaviours.
Who can volunteer?
You can!
Our volunteers are caring responsible men and women, over the age of 19, who come from a variety of religious, social, occupational and cultural backgrounds.
Volunteers:
- Must be 19 years or older;
- Must be prepared to make a commitment of at least 3 hours per week, for one year;
- Must be open and sensitive to socio-cultural diversity;
- Must demonstrate the capacity to be a consistent and positive adult role model and encourage pro-social values; and
- Must successfully complete all components of the selection process, including a Criminal Record Search.
The first step to becoming a KidStart volunteer is to attend an information session.
Sessions run frequently at our office locations: Please send an email to the contact in your area for more information about available dates and to register at the location nearest you!
